Local produce at Niuas and Vava'u shows [1]

The first three of six Royal Agricultural, Fisheries and Tonga Made Shows for 2016 for this year were held in Niuatoputapu, Niuafo’ou and Vava’u last week.
King Tupou VI opened the Niuatoputapu show at Matangimalie grounds on 27 July, and Niuafo’ou at Latufuipeka grounds on 28 July. The small population on these two remote outer islands is reported to have showcased food crops, seafood, fish and fine woven handicrafts.
On Saturday, 30 July, the King opened Vava'u's show in Neiafu showcasing abundant local food crops, fish, seafood, handicrafts, livestock and locally manufactured goods and services.
Ha’apai’s show will be held on 3 August, ‘Eua on 6 August, and then a two-day event in Tongatapu from August 12-13, concludes the national shows.
The annual Royal Shows organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries aims to encourage the development and sustainability of the agricultural, fisheries and industrial sectors.
