Following lively brass band performances by the Royal Corps of Musicians, dancers from Kanokupolu performed the Fola'osi Lakalaka today for the King's birthday luncheon held in marquees at the Royal Palace in Nuku'alofa. HM King Tupou VI is 57 years old this year.
In spite of a heavy shower before lunch, the sun came out for the afternoon performances, which were enjoyed by members of the Royal Family and their guests following a military parade at Pangai Lahi next to the Royal Palace.
Princess Pilolevu and Lord Vaea were the vahenga for the Lakalaka. Dancers from Pea performed a sitting dance, the Ma'ulu'ulu, and Kolovai women performed a Tau'olunga (Tokolahi).
