Tonga misses out on Under 20’s tournament [1]

Tonga has been excluded from the 2016 World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament. Fiji and Samoa are both currently competing in the competition which commenced last week in Zimbabwe. The annual U20 Trophy tournament hosts second tier nations who did not qualify for the premium U20 World Rugby Championship.

According to the World Rugby process, Tonga failed to qualify for the tournament after coming second to Fiji in last year’s Oceania Rugby Junior Trophy competition. Samoa automatically qualified for the tournament after being re-delegated from the premium U20 Championship. The 2016 World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament is in its final stage with Samoa scheduled to play Spain in finals this Sunday, May 1.
