"Zika Zero" action at Vaini on Friday 26 February, brought together volunteers from various civil society groups to clean up the town and get rid of the rubbish that is a breeding place for mosquitoes.

"We are proud to report that we have contributed in a small way to eliminating Zika virus in Tonga," stated the Civil Society Forum of Tonga who helped to mobilize the campaign.

The Tonga Red Cross Society was the lead agency of the clean up campaign. Caritas helped coordinate the logistics, and volunteers came from the Tonga National Youth Congress (TNYC), the Women and Children Crisis Centre.

The Clean Up Zika Campaign supports the response plan led by the Ministry of Health.
