The Supervisor of Elections has received a new complaint against Semisi Fakahau, the newly elected Tongatapu 8 People's Representative for alleged breach of election regulations.
This is the third complaint against elected People's Representatives received by the Electoral Commission after the General Election on 27 November.
Pita Vuki said today a person from Vaini who was not a candidate submitted the new complaint last week.
“The complaints alleged a range of breaches including one claiming that Fakahau who contested from Tongatapu 8 constituency did not live there. We have informed the PR of the complaint so that he can respond while we start to gather information regarding this,” said Pita.
Fakahau who is a newcomer to parliament won the Tongatapu 8 seat over former incumbent Sione Taione.
Meanwhile, the two initial complaints against the Vava’u no. 15 PR Samiu Vaipulu and Vava’u no. 16 PR ‘Etuate Lavulavu were still being investigated by the Electoral Commission. The allegations against them are for breach of campaign regulations.
