Tonga Thunder finish 6th in AFL Int'l Cup [1]

Tonga’s AFL team “Tonga Thunder” has finished 6th place at the Australian Football International Cup in Melbourne, Australia.
The Tonga Thunder were ranked 6th out of 18 teams. The team defeated three of its five opponents, losing only to South Africa and Canada.
Papua New Guinea won the international cup with a win over Ireland.
The Tongan Women’s team “Tonga Storm” were less impressive, losing all of their five matches in their first competition, including a narrow loss to Fiji 9 – 5. The Tonga Storm were ranked 6th out of the seven teams participating in the tournament.
At an awards night, Malia Afuha’amango was recognised as a standout player and selected as fullback for the Woman’s International Cup World team. Pani Mahina of the Tonga Thunder was also recognised, he was named in the Men’s International World Cup team.
