A Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Finland was opened by Crown Prince Tupouto'a 'Ulukalala at the Loumaile Building, Nuku'alofa this morning, March 5.

The Finland Ambassador to Australia, HE Mr Pasi Patokallio was in Nuku'alofa for the occasion. He said that Finland desired to establish diplomatic relation with small countries such as Tonga, and he was optimistic of a friendly and a closer working relation between the two countries.

Ms Adiloa Fifita, a Nuku'alofa business woman became the Honorary Consul for Finland in April 2013. She is the first female Honorary Consul for Finland in the Pacific region, but she is the third Tongan female Honorary Consul as Sweden and France also have female Honorary Consuls here.
