Japan supports safer and healthier Nukunuku Campus [1]

All classrooms at Tupou High School's Nukunuku Campus are being renovated by the Government of Japan.
The Japanese Ambassador to Tonga HE Dr Kazuchika Hamuro signed a project grant contract for $163,624 with the Chairman of the PTA Holani Tu’inauvai on February 4, at the campus.
The renovation work will include repairs of the walls and floors of the classrooms used byover 100 students, Forms 1-5, including the staffroom. The school’s multipurpose hall would also be repaired, and new toilet facilities constructed.
Dr Hamuro said the upgrade funded under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) will include a safer and healthier educational environment. “This project meets the aim of the GGP and will contribute to improving the quality of universal basic education, which is one of the priority objectives of Tonga’s development strategy,” he said.
Dr. 'Ana Koloto, the Chairperson of the Nukunuku Village Education Committee, thanked the Government of Japan for their generosity in improving the lives of the people of Tonga.
The construction is expected to take 3-4 months carried out by the Manutalamatangi Construction company.
