Tonga’s Prime Minister Lord Tu’ivakano (61) arrived at Fua'amotu International Airport at 5:20pm this afternoon on a flight from Auckland, after receiving medical treatment overseas.
Lord Tu'ivakano underwent an emergency cardiac procedure on September 28 at Bellevue Hospital, New York, after suffering from acute chest pains. He was in the city to attend the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Prime Minister left New York for San Francisco on October 5 after he was discharged from the hospital a few-days earlier. He flew to Auckland on October 11 for further consultations with a heart specialist before returning to Tonga.
