The Australian NRL Superstar, Fuifui Moimoi, plans to visit his home village in Vava’u this October to support the development of Rugby League among local primary schools.
The Parramatta Eel’s cult figure will attend the successful and third annual “Fuifui Moimoi Primary Shield”. Over 200 Vava’u primary school boys will participate in the competition in the village of Mataika.
This year Fuifui will attend the competition and present the post-match awards. According to the Parramatta Eel’s website, “the awards are a recognition of the competitive spirit of the children of Vava’u, as well as a tribute to their hometown hero.”
While in Vava‘u Fuifui will take part in rugby league coaching clinics aimed at developing the rugby skills of young athletes. He will donate a personal item for a charity auction to help the children. According to the Parramatta Eels, the item on sale is “one of Fui’s most treasured possessions; a signed boot.”
Fuifui will represent Tonga in Rugby League World Cup to be held in the United Kingdom on October 26.
