Swedish judo visitors help in Tonga training [1]

Lennie Niit, President of the Tonga Judo Association said that Mr Kullenberg was a high level 6th Dan judoka who had been training in judo for more than 40 years, and during his visit in Tonga has been conducted judo training sessions for local judoka.

"Discussions were held on how to achieve increased co-operation between Tonga and Sweden, with Sweden's Judo offering to assist Tonga Judo in further development within both coaching and international competition," he said. Today, the Swedish Judo Federation consists of about 160 judo clubs and has nearly 18,000 members, with the majority of the members aged between 7 and 11 years.

During the past weekend the President of the Oceania Judo Union, Ms. Clare Hargrave from New Zealand, also visited Tonga to join these discussions offering an Oceania viewpoint.

Mr. Kullenberg and Ms. Carlsson will leave Tonga on June 21.
