Top four Miss Heilala Tau‘olunga dancers announced [1]

Tonga's traditional dancing was on show at the Miss Heilala Tau’olunga dance competition held at the Heilala Village on Vuna Wharf on July 2.
The winner of the dancing will be announced on the final night of the Miss Heilala pageant, this Friday July 5, but the top four places announced in random order for the dancing were: Miss Victoria-Australia Angelique Iviiti; Miss Melie Mei Langi Australia Mele Lingisiva Na’a; Miss NZ Friendly Island Body Builders Association and THS Ex-Students Lita Mary Bloomfield; and Miss Appraxus Immigration NZ 2013 Rosamarie Fili.
The pageant continues on Thursday night, July 4 with the final judging event of sarong, talent, and island creation competitions in a South Pacific night.
The new Miss Heilala 2013-14 will be crowned on Friday night, July 5.
The seven contestants are:
- Miss Ma Tonga Teuila Telefoni (19),
- Miss Melie Mei Langi Australia Mele Lingisiva Na’a (18),
- Miss Appraxus Immigration NZ 2013 Rosamarie Fili (22),
- Miss NZ Friendly Island Body Builders Association and THS Ex-Students Lita Mary Bloomfield (21),
- Miss Victoria Australia Angelique Iviiti (19),
- Miss Lady Maria Australia Helen Talipeau (25),
- Miss Horizon Sun Susitina Fakahafua (22).
There were initially eight contestants but Miss Kai Mai Burgers Lioni Palaa dropped out due to an illness earlier this week.
Junior Tau'olunga
The show also featured talented young dancers in the Miss Tau’olunga Junior (6-8 years) and Miss Tau’olunga Pre-Teen (9-12) competitions. The winners were awarded cash prizes by the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Labour.
‘Ilaisaane Fineanganofo Tu’ipulotu won $500 cash prize for Miss Tau’olunga Junior and Best Costume.
Claire Ta’ai won $1000 for the Miss Tau’olunga Pre-Teen and Best Costume.
Seven young dancers competed in the junior category and nine in the pre-teen category. Consolation prizes of $100 pa’anga each were awarded to participants.
