Two accommodation providers in Tonga have been awarded certificates of excellence from a popular travel website after guests posted good reviews of the hospitality they received at the locations.

The Blue Banana Beach House at Kanokupolu was was rated the best B&B and Inn on Tongatapu.

Blue Banana owners Shane and Chris Egan, who run the private beach front facility, were delighted with the accolade. “We strive to offer our customers a unique and memorable experience," said Shane.

The Scenic Hotel Tonga also received a certificate of excellence based on feedback from customers and  TripAdvisor.com rated Scenic Hotel as the fourth best hotel in Tongatapu. 

The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor . To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on the website for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months. Only the top-performing 10 per cent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive the award.
