Six kindergartens in six Vava'u villages, have received computers in preparation for the 2013 school year, donated by a Tongan businessman, Mosese Uele.
The computers were handed out to kindergartens in the villages of Houma, Mangaia and Holonga; along with some furniture for a kindergarten in Ha'akio, during a visit earlier this month, by Mosese, who was accompanied by Hon. Dr Viliami Latu, Minister of Labour Commerce and Tourism, the People's Representative for Vava'u Constituency No. 16.
Last December Mosese also handed out computers to kindergartens in Ha'akio, Ta'anea and Leimatu'a.
Dr Latu said that Mosese generosity was to enable him to accomplish his vision to increase the standard of education in his constituency.
Tonga is scheduled to connect to a submarine fiber-optic telecommunications cable network in June, and it is envisaged that the fast connection will enable schools in Tongan villages to access resources that are currently beyond their reach.
Mosese, the owner of EZI World Cargo Ltd. a freight agent on the New Zealand and Tongatapu route, is planning to extend his operation to Vava'u soon.
