Nuku'alofa Central Business District was entertained with carols on Friday as the Tonga Police Band, Tonga Defence Services Band, and schools brass bands brought Christmas cheer to busy shoppers, despite the cloudy and rainy weather.
On Taufa'ahau Road, TDS entertained shoppers at the MBf Bank, while the Tonga Police Band played carols at the Fund Management Ltd. courtyard to the delight of some cheering dancing fans. At the same time, a small string band from Kolofo'ou wearing Christmas hats played Tongan tunes at a shop near the Talamahu Market. DJ 'Anolo Manu entertained customers with endless carols at Molisi Tonga Supermarket.
With three days before Christmas it was a busy day for retailers as tents were out on the sidewalk showcasing products and vendors yelling out special offers for the holiday.
Digicel Tonga's Christmas tree towered next its main office on Fatafehi Road with a brass band to cheer customers.
The capital is expected to become busier on Monday, as shoppers rush to complete their list before the Christmas day and Boxing Day holiday on 25-26 December.
