Princess Taone

The arrival of a container of medical equipment from Salt Lake City, USA for a clinic at the village of Vaini, in Tongatapu yesterday, November 7, was welcomed with prayers and speeches by Princess Taone and community leaders.

The Princess Taone said that in 2005-08 her husband Lord Ma'afu the noble of the village had made the initial move to acquire the basic medical equipment that was desperately needed at the village clinic.

Vaini now had a new clinic, but their need of essential equipment was ongoing.

She said that through the internet she networked with Vaini people living in Salt Lake City, USA, and they had accumulated medical equipment for Vaini. "And today, finally a container has arrived with equipment for our clinic."

The Princess thanked the handful of people in Salt Lake City, who had generously donated wheel chairs, and other apparatus, and also a number of Vaini people who stepped forward to pay for the freight.
