An appeal by Lord Lasike against his conviction on unlawful possession of ammunitions without a license, will be heard in October.

The Supreme Court  has listed Lasike's appeal to be heard during the second session of Tonga's Court of Appeal that will sit from October 2-12.

Lasike lodged his appeal on Thursday, August 9 and is represented by Dr Rodney Harrison QC of New Zealand.

On July 9, Tonga's Chief Justice Hon Michael Scott convicted Lasike on the one count of possession of two .22 ammunitions without a license, after a day and a half of trial. He was fined $500 pa'anga and had 42 days to appeal under the law.

A week later King Tupou VI revoked Lasike as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga and he lost his seat in parliament, as a consequence of his conviction.
