New Inter-college records set on first day of sports [1]

Eight new track and field records were set on April 7, at Teufaiva Stadium during the first day of the Inter-Collegiate Athletic Sports competition.
The first two records set for the day were in the Midget Boys 80 metres hurdles by Vili Takau of Vava'u setting with a new record of 12.64 seconds, followed by Manase Folau of Tupou College with 12.88 seconds.
In the Junior Girls 100m hurdles heat Fisi'italia Te'ekiu of 'Eua High School with 17.09 sec followed by Penateti Feke of Tonga High school with 17.10 sec, broke the previous record.
Sepiuta Tutanekai of Tailulu College also set a new record in the 400m. In the Senior Girls 200m Patiola Pahulu also of Tailulu College set her new record of 0.26.12 sec.
In the Intermediate Boys 200m heat William Magoon of Liahona High School set his new record of 0.22.95 sec and Melesia Mafile'o of Tonga High school also set her new record in the Open Girls high jump with 1.170 metre.
The second day of track and field events on Friday, kicked off with the 200, 300, 400, metre hurdles and the 800 metre running of both girls and boys division from midget grade to senior grade.
In the field both the girls and boys division of midget to senior grades had their finals in high jump, long jump, triple jump and shot put.
In track finals are held for the 4 x 400 relay of the Open boys and girls and Senior boys and girls grades.
And the 80m hurdles, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles in the midget to senior grades in both girls and boys division.
