The Tonga Government is understood to have reshuffled six of its Cabinet Ministers this month, but they have not taken up their new portfolios.

Matangi Tonga has not received any official confirmation announcing the changes, but individual Ministries confirmed this afternoon that although they were informed about their new Ministers, the reshuffle had not taken effect.

It is understood that some Ministers will move to their new posts in May and others on July 1.

Hon Lisiate 'Akolo will replace Hon Sunia Fili as Minister of Finance and National Planning, and Sunia will become the new Minister of Police.

Hon Viliami Latu the Minister of Tourism will become the new Minister of Health, replacing Hon 'Uliti Uata, who will become the new Minister of Agriculture, Food, Forests & Fisheries.

Meanwhile, Hon Fe'ao Vakata, the Minister of Training, Employment, Youth and Sports, will become the new Minister of Revenue.

Lord Vaea, the Minister of Agriculture will become the new Minister of Internal Affairs, a new Ministry that is expected to be in place on July 1.

This is the second time that the current Cabinet has reshuffled in just over a year, since took they were sworn in during January, 2011.

This is also the new government's second reshuffle of the Minister of Police portfolio, first with Hon Viliami Latu, who was followed by Hon Lisiate 'Akolo.

The reshuffle is part of the new strucutre of government that is expected to be in place by July 1.
