Tongan police are hunting for two armed men, who robbed a Chinese shop at Longolongo on Thursday evening, February 9.
Acting Police Commissioner Soakai Motu'apuaka said today that the two men stole cash and goods amounting to $6,000 pa'anga.
He said at around 10:30pm the two men wearing masks over their heads entered and threatened the shopkeeper with an iron rod and a shotgun and committed the crime before fleeing.
However, the shopkeeper told police that the shot-gun looked like a toy gun, and the police are still investigating, he said.
Rifles
In a separate incident, the police on February 2 arrested and charged a 33-year old-female for unlawful possession of five rifles without a licence.
He said the woman who comes from Houma and was living at Haveluloto remained in police custody while further investigation continued.
More illegal firearms were discovered after the Police carried out a search warrant at Veitongo and found three .410 rifles, one .22 rifle and one .306 rifle at a town allotment in Veitongo and a suspect was arrested.
