Special Weather Bulletin number seven on Tropical Cyclone Cyril issued from Fua'amotu at 11:00am Tuesday 7 February 2012.

The tropical cyclone warning previously in force for Vava'u and Ha'apai is now cancelled.

The gale wind warnings previously in force for Ha'apai, Vava'u and Niuatoputapu is now cancelled.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all land and coastal areas of Niuatoputapu, Vava'u, Ha'apai, Tongatapu and 'Eua.

Tropical Cyclone Cyril category 1 centre [987hpa] was located near 19 decimal 1 south 173 decimal 3 west or about 80km east southeast of Vava'u or 120km east northeast of Lifuka at about 0900am this morning. Cyril is moving east-southeast at 20 knots or 36km/hr.

Close to its centre, Cyril is estimated to have winds with average speeds up to 45 knots with momentary gusts to 65 knots.

For Vava'u and Niuatoputapu group: west to northwest wind 20-25 knots with gusts to 35 knots. Overcast with showers heavy at times but gradually clearing. High seas.

For Tongatapu and Ha'apai group: strong east to southeast winds 20-25kts. Cloudy periods becoming fine. Rough to very rough seas.

Tides: High tide 12:53pm. Low tide  07:05pm

The mean sea level pressure recorded at Fua'amotu at 11:00am was 1001mb.
