Editor,

After a long dry spell, Tonga, and the whole South pacific, will finally see an eclipse again.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, 26 to 27 June 2010, a lunar eclipse will take place. Unfortunately it is only a partial eclipse, only the northern half of the moon will be plunged into darkness. With the moon during these hours almost straight overhead, the phenomenon will be excellently visible to those who look up, but to those who do not do the whole spectacle may pass unnoticed.

The partial eclipse starts at 23:17, the maximum is reached at 0:38 and the moon will leave the umbra on 2:00. Happy watching.
