MPs have no shame to ask for "farewell pay-off" [1]

Editor,

Thank you for being there for the rest of us who are outside the physical boundaries of the kingdom but only a keystroke away through the kindness of modern technologies. Your tireless efforts increase our awareness of the thievery that is about to take place in Parliament.

Your June 29, 2010, article "MPs plead for "farewell pay-off" before November election" has just solidified my perception that these so-called public servants in our Parliament are leeches in human form. They have no shame in asking for a "farewell pay-off" for their non-performance of their fiduciary duties to the people of the kingdom. Now, we have to live with their failure to live up to their obligations to the people for generations to come. As you pointed out in the past month, their willingness to vote on a Bill that had yet to be written is only the tip of their incompetence. Let us not forget their lackadaisical attitude about their attendance in Parliament. They come and go as they please. For those few hours they meet in a day seem to be too inconvenient to them at best. Better yet, they can come late to their 4-hour session, but demand to be paid overtime when they are summoned to come and discuss what they should have discussed during their regular sessions.

When the economy is in the tank and the average household struggles to pay its electricity bill, the greedy bunch in Parliament wants additional compensation on top of their generous wages and compensation.

While the roads are in poor conditions, public schools are in dire need of repairs and the health care system needs all the financial help it can get, these self-serving MPs want more for their pockets. Would someone please call the police?
