Boxers, Lomalito Moala and Uaine Fa claimed two bronze medals for Tonga at the Delhi XIX Commonwealth Games, last night, October 11.
Tonga's hope of winning medals at the Commonwealth Games eventually came to rest on the shoulders of the two boxers, Lomalito Albert Wayne Moala (21) in the Light Weight 60kg division; and Uaine Fa (20) in the Superheavy Weight +91kg division.
Both boxers won their Quarter Final fights the day before when Lomalito Moala defeated Alex Ryan of Canada 4-2 points; and Uaine Fa defeated Jake Ageidu of Nauru 12-2 points. But that did not happen last night, Lomalito Moala was defeated by Josh Taylor of Scotland 5-0 points; and Uaine Fa was defeated by Paramjeet Samota of India 6-2 points.
The two Tongan fighters will receive their Bronze Medals at a Medal Ceremony on Wednesday, while Paramjeet advances to fight Tariz Adbul of Trinidad and Tobago for the Gold and the Silver.
Meanwhile, the Tongan 7-a-side Rugby Team, playing in Pool B lost to South Africa 29-0, and to Wales 38-7, and won their third match against India, 38-5.
