Ten teams are competing in the Kingdom Cup Touch Rugby Tournament with the finals to be held on Saturday, April 30 at the Nukunuku Wesleyan Primary School ground.
The First Round of the tournament started on ANZAC Day, April 25 with ten teams, including six teams in the Men's Division and four teams in the Mixed Division.
The organisers, the Tonga National Touch Association, stated that two Nukunuku teams, the Wildcats in the Men's Division and Vaitaseni in the Mixed Division had dominated both divisions "with their attack and defence, smart play and superior fitness."
In the men's division the newcomers Ma'ufanga League, TCC and the A-team were hot on the Wildcats' heals and it was predicted that in the finals today there could be a few upsets.
In the Mixed Division the Nukunuku Wildcats and the Vaitaseni also of Nukunuku were very strong "as the Expendables valiantly played with the minimum number of substitutes, a situation that hampered their chances as the day wore on and the humidity and high-tempo began to takes its toll."
