Editor,
Bula Saki, great imagination but you may have missed proper island protocols..
Ma'afu, who can is arguably be referred to as the Tu'i Fiji, and definitely revered by the Lau Group residents will not be the one serving Ratu Tevita Uluilakepa Mara . . . Ratu Mara will not allow this to happen . . . There will be warriors, Nobles and other Ceremonial Attendees serving Ratu Mara and Ma'afu.
What must be understood, is that Blood is thicker than politics, especially in our island nation.
History has it that we (Tongans, Fijians and Samoans and other Pacific islanders) navigated the vast Pacific Oceans in open Kalias when the worlds navigators was restricted by the belief that the world was flat and there is the possibility of falling over the edge. We visited and leave each others at will. It was new to us and still strange when the "white man" restricted our visiting rights with foreign terminology such as Economic Zone, boarders, and worst Visa's and Immigration.
Just thinking out loud.
