TONGA’S national Under 18 Rugby team, currently touring New Zealand for the first time, has secured two victories out of its four matches, after defeating the Auckland Marist Club and the Northland District under 18.

Taniela Fusimalohi, the Director of the Ministry of Training, Employment, Youth and Sports, said the U-18 tour was off to a good start.

In their first game on November 22 against the Auckland Marist Rugby Club Tonga U-18 won with a score 24 to 21.

In its second game on November 25 they defeated Northland 26-10.

The Under 18 was due to meet the Northland District Academy on November 29, to be followed by a final match against the Counties Manukau Under 18 on December 2.

Taniela said this was the first tour of a National Under 18 Tour to New Zealand under the Ministry’s National Junior Rugby Development Program.
