NZ qualifies for FIFA U-20 World Cup [1]

Tonga's hope of qualifying for the Federation International Football Association FIFA U-20 women's World Cup in Germany in July came to a sudden end on January 25 when its U-20 women's team was thrashed by New Zealand 11-0.

The New Zealand/Tonga game was the final game of a three-days of qualifying games between New Zealand, Tonga, American Samoa and the Cook Islands.


 


 


 


 


 

Tonga's first game was against the Cook Islands on January 21 at the North Harbour Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand.

At half-time the score was 1-0 for the Cook Islands. But about half-way through the second half, Tongan stricker Heilala Loto'anui scored and the score was level 1-1 at fulltime.

Tonga's second game was against American Samoa on January 23 at the same venue, North Harbour Stadium. Penateti Feke scores twice for Tonga during the first half, and at half time its was 2-0 for Tonga.


 


 


 

Heilala Loto'aniu scored first for Tonga in the second half, then Penateti Feke sealed the game for Tonga with a hat-trick. Tonga won 4-0.

Results from other matches were: New Zealad beat American Samoa 8-0. New Zealand beat Cook Islands 8-0, and Cook Islands beat American Samoa 4-0.

The winner of the tournament was New Zealand, Cook Islands in second place, Tonga in third and American Samoa in fourth place.
