Editor,
You have been uncomfortable with the push to implement the changes and never mind the consequences. This report shares your long-held view and congratulations.
Can I please commend the Commissioners on being able to deliver a very clear, concise document which updates us all in language which we all understand and highlights the issues ahead. More so that they were able to do so in short duration. Looking back on it, bringing together such a body of experienced representation was an inspired decision.
I am particularly impressed that the Commission recognized the need for a more informed electorate and that our communities need to be better informed so that they can better anticipate the changes and its impact on their lives. The wider concern over land tenure is a welcome surprise at this late stage and clearly signals the need for a better sweep of the landscape as it were.
Given the level of political noise which we've endured over the last decade and a half here's hoping that the report will restore some sanity and a more reflective attitude from our political aspirants but more importantly from our own media.
With very few exceptions our media of late have failed miserably in their contribution to the democratic changes. They have elevated personal attacks and denigration to such an unprecedented level, they will all go broke through their own incompetence and lack of good judgment.
With the release of this report, will it be too much to ask our webmasters, editors and publishers to whom we look for accurate information, balanced reporting and if possible, some informed analysis, to give us all a break - please!
