Noble Fohe's funeral, Wednesday [1]

Noble Fohe, the estate holder of Puke and the longest serving Noble's Representative in the Tonga Parliament will be laid to rest tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22.

Fohe (77) passed away peacefully in the early morning of Thursday, April 16 at his home 'Api ko Nahau in Puke, the family confirmed today.

His body is currently being kept at home and his wake will be held during the daytime Wednesday. The Prayer Service for his funeral will be held in the afternoon at the Puke Free Wesleyan Church in the afternoon and attended by King George Tupou V.

The funeral procession will be led by the Tonga Police Brass Band will proceed to the Vai 'o Lupe Cemetary.

22 years in parliament

Fohe, born Samiuela Kavapalu on October 10, 1931 in 'Eueiki, was the eldest son of seven children born to Hon Fohe known as Lopeti Kavapalu and Manu Kailea.

He was educated at the Government Primary School of Fasi mo e Afi and St Andrews High School.

Fohe served in the Tonga Parliament as a Noble's Representative for 22 years, making him the longest serving Noble's Representative.

He entered parliament in 1984 after being elected for 'Eua. In 1990 he was again elected but this time for Tongatapu, a seat he held up to his death.

Fohe is survived by his widow 'Anatoa Holani and one daughter Lupe Hoamofaleono.
