Tonga has begun its preparations for the Beijing, 2008 Summer Olympic Games, by electing a new Secretary General of the Tonga Amateur Sports Association, Po'oi Puloka at its AGM on November 3.

Po'oi replaces Steven Takaetali Finau, who has served two terms as the Secretary General of TASA during the past eight years.

The only other new executive members who were elected during the AGM were ‘Elina Raass, the first woman to be elected as one of the six Vice Presidents of the Executive of TASA.

The President of TASA Tevita Tupou was re-elected and so was the vice president, Hon. Tu'ivakano. The five other vice presidents were Steven Finau, Takitoa Taumoepeau, Sione Taione, Siale Puloka, and ‘Ahongalu Fusimalohi. The treasurer of TASA is Malakai Lomu Sika.
