Smiles and tears were brought to members of the Alonga Centre today after Christmas came early for them when they received food and other products from a three minute Digicel Trolley-dash at the Si'i Kae Ola Supermarket on Hala Taufa'ahau.

The goods, amounting to $ 3,551 pa'anga were a Christmas treat provided by Digicel through its DigiCare program, which provides support to special needs community in Tonga.

The General Manager of Digicel Tonga, Crystal Middleton-Lunn, said today the event celebrated the International Day for Disabilities on December 3 and it was organised to provide an early Christmas groceries for the Alonga Centre.

The trolley-dash saw three players enlisted from the Tonga National Rugby Union Sevens Team, Ualosi Kailea, Vaea Poteki and Malakai Fekitoa, to fill the trolley up with goods within three minutes.

Equipped with a list each of goods and products requested by the Alonga Centre, the players dashed through the supermarket from shelf to shelf grabbing items ranging from meat and canned foods to toiletries, and other products.

"The DigiCare - Trolley Dash is giving residents of the Alonga Centre the peace of mind that food is all taken care off this Christmas and that is the main objective of this event," said Crystal.
