Unidentified male body found near Masefield Naval Base [1]

A police investigation is underway to identify a male body that was discovered on Thursday, 18 June 2026 near the Masefield Naval Base, in Touliki.

Tonga Police said the deceased was found by personnel from the His Majesty's Armed Forces (HMAF). The body is currently under the custody of the Tonga Police and has been transferred to the morgue pending identification and further inquiries.

"Investigations remain ongoing," Tonga Police stated today.

Meanwhile, authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist in identifying the deceased to contact the nearest police station or to 922.
