Ma'ufanga man charged with reckless driving causing injury to street vendor [1]

A 51-year-old man from Ma'ufanga has been charged with reckless driving causing injuries to a woman street vendor, after his vehicle collided with a roadside stall on By Pass Road in Pahu.

The 23-year-old street vendor from Niutoua was admitted to hospital.

Tonga Police's Halatoa Taufa, said it is alleged that the man's vehicle swerved while traveling on Bypass Road in Pahu, hitting a roadside wood market where the woman was located.

The driver has been charged with reckless driving causing injury and refusing to undergo an alcohol test.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
