Tongan athletes secure gold and bronze across Track and Field [1]

Champion Tongan thrower 'Atamaama Tuʻutafaiva won gold in the Women’s Shot Put at the Polynesian Championships, one of multiple medals for Team Tonga across track and field events on Saturday at The Trusts Arena in Auckland.
Discus gold for Toloa College student
Young Tongan athlete Penisimani Taeiloa, a student of Toloa College, also brought pride to the nation by winning gold in the Under-20 men’s discus.
His victory marks an important achievement for Tonga’s emerging field athletes and reflects the growing talent coming through the country’s school athletics system.
Gold for U18 Women’s Relay Team
Tonga also celebrated success on the track, with the Under-18 women’s 4x400 metres relay team winning gold.
Team Tonga included athletes Ane Tali, Alilia Salt, Langakali Peni and Angelina Tupou, who combined speed and teamwork to secure the top podium finish.
Bronze for Kolomalu in Men’s 100m
Adding to Tonga’s medal tally, sprinter Tevita Kolomalu won bronze in the men’s 100 metres, delivering a strong sprint performance against a competitive regional field.
'Atamaama Tuʻutafaiva also competed at the New Zealand Track & Field Championships 2026, where she took Silver in the Women’s Shot Put throwing 15.15m, in a strong international performance, also at The Trusts Arena on Saturday.
