Two women have been arrested in separate incidents involving the alleged online harassment on Facebook, Tonga Police stated.

On 23 February 2026, a 56-year-old woman from Te'ekiu was arrested "for using an electronic communication service to menace, harass, or cause harm to a victim through a Facebook Live broadcast," according to Tonga Police.

In a separate incident on 25 February 2026, a 42-year-old woman from Ha'asini was also arrested for posting disrespectful information about a victim on a Facebook page feature known as "My Story."

Tonga Police urge the public to remember that words can impact others and to always show respect for others, and to nurture relationships with humility, generosity, and loyalty, whether online and offline.
