Pacific Energy confirmed that the fuel supply chain for Tonga returned to normal on 19 December, following petrol shortages throughout Tonga over several months.

Pacific Energy CEO, Mr. Stephane Cadel confirmed the news with Prime Minister, Lord Fakafanua, last week.

Mr. Cadel said their oil tanker, LCT Media, had undergone repairs and resumed the deliveries.

“The scheduled rotations to Tonga should allow everyone to approach the Christmas period with a greater peace of mind.”

PM Lord Fakafanua reassured the public that there is and there would be sufficient fuel and there should not be any unnecessary queues at the petrol stations.

The next shipping rotation is scheduled for the 28 December for Nuku’alofa and 30 December for Vava’u.

For the new year, the shipping rotation is scheduled for 13 January for Nuku’alofa and 15 January for Vava’u.

Hoever, the dates can be disrupted by unfavourable weather conditions.
