Tonga High School Head Girl, Sulia He 'I Vakaola Ilangana (18), was named the Dux for 2025, after achieving top marks in Form 7 Chemistry and Biology.

She was also recognized as the Most Outstanding Student in Science, at the school’s prize-giving ceremony today, 3 December, at the Tonga High Indoor Stadium in Nuku’alofa.

Sulia received over $5,000 in cash prizes, along with trophies, and the King Tupou VI Coronation prize scholarship to study in New Zealand.

“Being named the Dux of Tonga High School for 2025 is not just a recognition. It is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and an answer to many prayers whispered in quiet moments,” she said.

Sulia resides in Pahu, Nuku'alofa. Her family comes from Ofu and Tu’anekivale Vava’u; Te’ekiu Tongatapu.

Proxime Accessit

The Proxime Accessit 2025 is Tisha S Kapadia (17), a prefect, who received the STEM prize, which recognizes the outstanding female student in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. She received over $3,000 prizes, and trophies. Tisha and her family are from India, and reside in Pahu, Tongatapu.

Mele Finau Havea (18), a prefect, the second runner-up, topped Geography and Computing & ICT, and was the best progress student in Form 7.

Mele’s family comes from ‘Otea, Vava’u; ’Eua;, and Ha’akame, Tongatapu,
