Diplomatic week welcomes nine Ambassadors [1]

Nine Non-Resident Ambassadors to Tonga presented their credentials to King Tupou VI, during ‘Diplomatic Week’ on 19 and 20 June, at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa.
The Ambassadors and High Commissiones presenting their Letters of Credence were:
- Republic of Korea - H.E. Mr. Chang-sik KIM
- Philippines - H.E. Ms. Kira Christianne Danganan Azucena
- Ireland - H.E. Ms. Jane Connolly
- Federated States of Micronesia - H.E. Mr. Carson K Sigrah
- Republic of Fiji - H.E. Mr. William Brown Toganivalu
- Papua New Guinea - H.E. Mr. Sakias Tameo
- Cyprus - H.E. Mr. Antonis SAMMOUTIS
- Canada - H.E. Mr. Keith Smith
- Czech Republic - H.E. Ms. Jana Tyrer
The nine Head of Missions also called on HRH Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister Responsible for His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
A letter of credence is a formal diplomatic letter that appoints a diplomat as an Ambassador or High Commissioner to another sovereign state and is presented to the Sovereign in a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a diplomatic posting.
