Above normal rainfall recorded in Tonga for March [1]

During another month of extremely high rainfall in parts of Tonga, the highest 24-hour rainfall was 197.0 mm recorded in Kolovai on 3 March.
Tonga Meteorological Services reported that above normal rainfall was received across the country this month especially in the Fua’amotu and Nuku’alofa areas.
The mean air temperature was 27.0 degree Celsius, being 0.1 degrees cooler than normal.
The highest maximum temperature was 32.8 degree Celsius, recorded at Nuku’alofa on 18 March.
The lowest temperature was 18.5 degree Celsius, recorded at Vava’u on 27 March.

The Tonga Climate Update and Climate Outlook for the quarter May to July predicted average to below average rainfall for Tonga in May to July 2025.
“This may be seen alongside warmer than average maximum air temperature and average to above average sea surface temperatures.”
