27 new records set at Tonga Inter-College Sports 2004 [1]

In a tough contest that saw 27 new records set, and Vava'u schools competing for the first time, 'Apifo'ou College won the most gold medal in the 2004 Tonga Inter-College Sports.
The Catholic Church college, 'Apifo'ou, won 28 golds, making it the fourth year in a row to top the gold medal tally.
However, Liahona College, of the LDS church, won the most medals in the tournament, a total of 53 medals, two more than 'Apifo'ou's total of 51 medals.
The top three schools for gold medals were: 'Apifo'ou College, 28; Tailulu College 21; and Liahona High School 13.
The top three girls results for gold medals were: Tailulu, 19; 'Apifo'ou, 13; and Tonga High School 9. The top three boys schools for gold medals were: 'Apifo'ou, 15; Tupou College, 13; and Tonga College 12.
The three top schools with the most medals were:
Liahona High School 53 medals (13 gold, 22 silver and 18 bronze);
'Apifo'ou College with 51 medals (28 gold, 16 silver, and 7 bronze); and Tupou College with 40 medals (13 gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze).
Vava'u secondary schools participated for the first time with Ha'apai, and 'Eua secondary schools also represented, taking their share of the medals.
...Eua schools won 27 medals, (7 gold, 6 silver, and 14 bronze).
Ha...apai schools won 10 medals, (3 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze).
Vava'u schools won 30 medals, (3 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze).
A total of 27 new records were set this year.
‘Apifo‘ou College set 7, Tailulu College 6, Tonga College 3, Liahona High School 3, Tonga High School 2, Lavengamalie 1, ...Eua 1, Tonga Side school 1, Takuilau 1, Queen Salote College 1.
Tonga High School also broke the senior 4 x100 meters girls relay record, setting a new time of 53.3 seconds.
Distinguishing themselves with two new records each were:
Jeffery Kalemani of Tonga College, int. boys discus 51.09m, and int. boys shot put 16.79m;
Melesia Mafile'o of Tailulu College, open girls triple jump 12.18 m and open girls high jump 1.78m;
Patiola Pahulu of Tailulu College int. girls 200m 26.55s and int. girls 100m 13.09s;
Talava Tavui of 'Apifo'ou College snr. girls 400m 1:00.87s, and snr. girls 200m 26.64s; and
Viliami Niupalau of Liahona HS, jnr. boys 200m 24.19s, and jnr boys 200m hurdle 26.26s.
