A 35-year-old male from Fua'amotu was arrested with alleged cannabis and cannabis seeds, in a Police drug raid earlier this week.

Tonga Police acted on reliable information received regarding a residence in Fua'amotu alledgedly selling drugs within the community.

The Tonga Police Drug Squad approached the suspect and seized five bags with cannabis weighing 1,114.03 grams, 33 packs of cannabis weighing 33.15 grams, two plastic bags with cannabis weighing 18.58 grams, 6643 cannabis seeds weighing 72.95 grams and 1,200 empty packs.

The suspect, a 35-year-old male from Fua'amotu, was arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing.

Police recently arrested two women from Fua'amotu who were allegedly in the act of selling and purchasing cannabis.

Tonga Police urged the public to remain aware of the harms of illicit drug use, which can affect anyone and often has the greatest impact on those most vulnerable.

"We all have a role to play in addressing this issue, and Tonga Police stands ready to work alongside our communities," Tonga Police stated.
