Three newlyweds tied the knot this afternoon, 16 December 2024, at the Registry Office, in Nuku’alofa, joining the rush before government offices close at the end of this week for Christmas holidays.

Family and friends gathered at the Registry Office with music and excitment to celebrate, after the marriage licenses were issued.

The Registry Office told Matangi Tonga that there were 114 marriage licenses issued in December to date, according to the bookings. This does not include the “walk-ins”

So far, 722 marriage licenses have been issued for 2024.

The licenses can be issued any day of the week however, the busiest days for the office are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

December is the busiest month of the year for the Registry Office.
