The 'Ikale Tahi's hope in 2004 to elevate itself from the bottom of the Tri-nation Series rank, was shattered again today at Teufaiva Stadium when they lost 26-27 to Fiji.

After leading 21-10 at half-time, and looking sharp at the break Tonga could not withhold the wave of attacks by the Fijians in the second half. The Fijians scored the first try in the second half. It was converted and the score went up to Fiji 17 Tonga 21. Fiji converted a penalty to close the gap to 20-21. The 'Ikale Tahi struck back with a kick and chase by Sila Va'enuku, but Fangatapu could not convert, and Tonga was still leading 26-20. Fiji kept up their attack and it paid off with a converted try to take the lead 27-26 until full time.
