A 29-year-old woman from Nukuleka lost her life this morning, and two passengers were critically injured, when a vehicle collided with a power pole on Vuna Road at Touliki, Nuku'alofa.

At around 7:00 am this morning, Tonga Police received a report of a vehicle crash, involving a car with a driver and four passengers, travelling in an easterly direction on Vuna Road.

“Two passengers remain in extreme critical condition and two passengers have minor injuries.”

Police alleged that speed and alcohol were suspected to be contributing factors to this accident, whereby the driver lost control swerving to the right side of the road hitting an electric pole.

The crash remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, Tonga Police urged the public to drive safely.
