Spearfisherman drowns at Ha'ateiho [1]

A 28-year-old male from Haveluloto drowned while out spearfishing with a group in a beach at Ha'ateiho on 28 October, Tonga Police reported.
On Monday, Tonga Police responded to a report of a possible drowning at a beach at Ha'ateiho.
The 28-year-old victim was recovered from the ocean but remained unresponsive, despite first aid efforts from a police officer and two witnesses who were at the scene.
He was transported to Vaiola Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from suspected asphyxia from drowning. The name of the victim has not been released.
After thorough investigations, Police stated that no foul play was suspected at this time. The body of the victim was released to the family to prepare for his burial.
