HM King George V will make his first official visit to the People's Republic of China next month.

In Beijing the king will meet the President of the People'’s Republic of China, HE Hu Jintao, the first meeting with the Chinese President since he became a king.

A reliable source confirmed this morning, that the main purpose of the visit is to reaffirm and strengthen the foreign relations between the Kingdom of Tonga and China.

The details of the king'’s itinerary have not been confirmed but the visit will last not more than a week.
