Miss Heilala contestants bring festivities to town [1]

The Miss Heilala contestants brought festivities into the Nuku’alofa CBD today, after the solemn rituals of the Royal Taumafa Kava ceremony were held at Pangai Lahi, earlier in the morning.

A crowd of supporters gathered and cheered for the Heilala girls as they travelled along Taufa'ahau Road, leading the Heilala Festival parade from St. Andrews High School to central Nuku'alofa.

Tongan body builders with cheerful spirits showed off their form on the floats.

Tonga College 'Atele and Tailulu College brass bands marched in the parade.

The Miss Heilala judging events start next week at the Heilala village, with other events planned by the Ministry of Tourism in celebration of the King's birthday.
