King opens new church school, Anastasis College [1]

HM King Tupou VI cut a ribbon, to officially open a new school for the Siasi 'O Tonga (Church of Tonga) at Matatoa, Tongatapu today, 10 May 2024.
The school will begin with only one level this year, for the Form 3 (Grade 9), enrolling a total of 105 students with a staff of six teachers.
Church President Rev Dr Tu'ipulotu Lōfitu Katoanga said that the school will add a level each year until the church reaches its 100th anniversary in 2029. By this time, the school should be completed with all Form 3-7 evels.
Programs in addition to the compulsory subjects that the school will teach include Biblical studies, Technical and Vocational studies, Engineering, Agriculture, and Hospitality.
The construction of the new two-story school building was funded by members of the Church of Tonga who plan to add more classrooms as student numbers increase.
The King named the new school, Anastasis College, which in Greek means ' Ressurection' or 'The Ressurection of Christ'.
"This school should be now known as the College of Anastasis," the King said.
Also attending the event were the Hon. Prime Minister Hu'akavameiliku, Deputy PM Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, cabinet ministers, nobles, diplomats and others.
