The body of a man who was discovered on the roadside, leading to the new settlement in the Tokomololo area, on Sunday, 5 May, has been identified as 50 year old Kepueli 'Ahome'e from Ha'alalo.
Tonga Police stated that they received the report at 2:10 pm yesterday and began their investigation.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, Tonga Police warned that photos of the body shared on social media were inappropriate and disrespectful to the family and friends of the deceased. Police have made approaches to some media outlets and others involved in publishing the images.
"We find this particularly disrespectful to the family and friends of Mr. Kepueli 'Ahome'e," Tonga Police said.
A public Facebook account "Tonga Political Intellect" published a photoshopped image, with a cartoon emoji head on a picture of the deceased lying on the roadside, which was shared by many people on Facebook.
Meanwhile, police urged the public to report any information relevant to this tragedy to the Police and not to post it on social media.
